Cockpit exposes the current panel endpoint in the Settings page and lets you update it through a dedicated Edit Endpoint modal. This gives you one place to review and correct the address tied to the account profile.
When to Use This
- Your panel URL has changed.
- You want to replace an old or temporary endpoint value.
- You need to correct a profile-level endpoint after migration.
- You want to check the current endpoint stored by Cockpit.
Where the Endpoint Appears
In Settings, Cockpit shows the current Endpoint with an Edit action. The edit modal includes a New Endpoint field pre-filled with the current value.
Steps
- Open Settings.
- Locate the Endpoint row.
- Click Edit.
- Replace the existing endpoint with the correct one.
- Save the change.
- Confirm the updated value now appears in the Settings page.
Expected Result
The Settings page should display the new endpoint after the change is saved.
Common Mistakes
- Saving a temporary hostname: Use the real stable endpoint you intend to keep.
- Changing the value without testing access: Confirm the destination URL is actually the working panel address.
- Ignoring old migration leftovers: Endpoint fields often need cleanup after moves or domain changes.
Example Use Cases
- Domain migration: The owner updates the endpoint after moving Cockpit to a new host or domain.
- Cleanup after staging: A temporary test address is replaced with the production panel endpoint.
- Operator sanity check: The reseller confirms the account is pointing at the right public panel address.
