The Downloads page gives authenticated users a clean list of available APK files, including version badges, descriptions, upload dates, file-size information, and direct download actions.
When to Use This
- You want to understand what the Downloads page is for.
- You need to explain the APK list to another operator or customer.
- You want to know what labels such as version, file size, or remote mean.
- You want to check whether download entries are being shown correctly.
What the Downloads Page Shows
- an APK card for each active download
- the app name and version
- a short description
- upload date
- file size or a Remote label when the file points to an external URL
- a direct Download APK or Download Now action
- a details modal for fuller app information
How to Use It
- Open Downloads from the sidebar.
- Scan the available cards and look at the version badge for the build you need.
- Open the details modal if you want the full description and metadata.
- Use the download button for the entry you want.
Expected Result
You should be able to identify the right app build, understand whether it is local or remote, and start the download from the page without guessing.
What the Labels Mean
- Version: the release number attached to the APK entry
- Upload date: when the entry was added or updated in the panel
- File size: the local file size when Cockpit is serving the file directly
- Remote: the entry points to an external URL instead of a locally hosted APK file
Common Mistakes
- Assuming remote is broken: It usually means the file lives at an external address, not that the entry failed.
- Ignoring version badges: Always verify the build you are about to send or install.
- Skipping the details modal: The modal often gives better context than the shortened card text.
Example Use Cases
- Customer handoff: An operator checks the Downloads page to make sure the intended APK is the one being distributed.
- Support check: Before answering a ticket, the owner confirms the correct version is still listed.
- Remote-hosted builds: A reseller sees the Remote label and knows the panel is linking out rather than serving the file locally.
